Suzan Lucas Yumbe
MSc Public Health for Development (LSHTM), Tanzanian public health strategist advancing systems-level transformation in WASH and gender-responsive community health. Founder of Afyaplus Organization, she leads an integrated model connecting infrastructure, behavior change, and policy engagement.
Growing up in rural Tanzania, inadequate sanitation and unsafe water were daily realities. Schools lacked privacy, clean water, and menstrual health support—forcing many girls to pause their education. In 2017, while still a university student, Suzan founded Afyaplus as a community-based organization to tackle these structural gaps. Today, Afyaplus is a registered NGO with impact across hundreds of schools, reaching over 260,000 people with health education and sustainable WASH services.
Role at Afyaplus
