Who We Are

Afyaplus is a non-profit and non-business organization registered under the NGO act dealing with prevention and control of diseases through Water Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) activities, Nutrition and Women Empowerment.

Our work began as a small community-based initiative and has grown into a recognized NGO creating lasting change in Tanzanian communities.

Impact

Our Story

2017
Founded as a Community Based Organization to address WASH and nutrition issues in local communities.
2020
Officially registered as an NGO focused on preventing and controlling WASH and Nutrition related diseases with focus on children, girls and women.
2022-2024
Trained 1265 school girls and boys (target 1500) on making reusable sanitary pads. Established 15 school safe pad labs with fully installed sewing machines. Produced 5685 pads to date.
2022-2025
Developed and implemented curriculums for Menstrual Health Hygiene (MHH) and adolescent sexual reproductive health and rights (ASRHR) for 57,796 girls from 92 Iringa and Dodoma Regional schools.
2022-2025
Established 47 MHM and ASRH champions in the community who conducted awareness seminars at both the school and community levels.
