Progress of SWASH Project in Mbarali District Council Mbeya
Afyaplus OrganizationAfyaplus Organization is making progress in improving sanitation at Magigiwe Primary School in Mbarali District Council! The construction of school toilets, an incinerator, a changing room, a handwashing station, and a water tank tower is now over 70% complete. This project is a crucial milestone in ensuring a clean, safe, and hygienic learning environment for students, promoting their health, well-being, and academic success.
Access to proper sanitation facilities is essential for maintaining student health and reducing the risk of illnesses caused by poor hygiene. By strengthening hygiene services, we are not only protecting children from diseases but also promoting better learning outcomes. Clean and safe facilities empower students, especially girls, by providing them with the dignity and privacy they need to attend school confidently.
This project, supported by our donor, Nawiri Foundation, will benefit 300 students (145 girls and 155 boys) and their teachers. Alongside the construction work, Afyaplus will conduct awareness sessions on Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) to educate students on proper hygiene practices. These sessions will help instill lifelong habits that contribute to overall community well-being.
The project is expected to be fully completed by July 2025. Once finished, it will significantly enhance sanitation and hygiene standards at the school, providing a healthier and more supportive learning environment. With access to clean water, adequate sanitation, and proper hygiene education, these students will have a stronger foundation for success.
