Malala Fund Visits Afyaplus in Dodoma

On a bright May morning, Afyaplus opened its doors and hearts to two very special guests from the Malala Fund: Ms. Leila Seradj, Director of Grants, and Ms. Maria Qanita, Chief of Staff. Their visit began with an official reception hosted by the Dodoma Regional Administrative Secretary, Mr. Kaspar K. Msuya, who commended Afyaplus for “raising the region’s health and education bar through practical, community-led solutions.”

Inside the new Dodoma office: ideas in action

At our newly established Dodoma hub, Afyaplus staff, board members Ms. Godfrida Magubo (Chairperson) and Mr. Samweli Sudi, and Malala Fund colleagues gathered for a candid conversation about what it takes to keep girls in school—every day of the month and every year of their education journey. Focus topic: Safe Pad Lab, now serving 92 schools across Iringa and Dodoma. Big milestone: Over 40,000 girls and 20,000 boys have already benefited from hands on menstrual-health training and reusable-pad production skills.

Lessons learned & the road ahead

The visit reminded us that scale is meaningless without quality and dignity at its core. Malala Fund’s insights sharpened our plan to: Expand teacher mentorship so every school has at least two trained champions for menstrual health and ASRHR. Strengthen student feedback loops because young voices are our best performance indicators. Leverage government alliances to integrate Safe Pad Lab into national BOOST and SEQIP frameworks, reaching learners with disabilities and out-of-school youth.

Gratitude in action

Partnership is more than funding; it is walking the journey together. We thank the Malala Fund team for listening, learning, and challenging us to dream bigger. Their visit reaffirms a shared mission: every girl deserves the confidence, health, and opportunity to thrive in the classroom and beyond.

We love visitors! If you’re passionate about menstrual health, WASH, or girls’ education, our doors in Dodoma and Iringa are always open. Join us—let’s create lasting impact together.
