We are thrilled to share that Ms. Suzan Yumbe, the Founder and Executive Director of Afyaplus Organization, has been awarded the prestigious Chevening Scholarship! This achievement highlights Suzan’s dedication to leadership, community impact, and her commitment to improving public health.
The Chevening Scholarship, awarded by the UK government, is a highly competitive and globally renowned program that supports outstanding emerging leaders from across the world. It enables these trailblazers to pursue a one-year master’s degree in the UK, equipping them with the knowledge and skills needed to create positive change. Chevening scholars are selected for their passion, innovative ideas, and potential to influence future progress — qualities that Suzan embodies in her professional and personal journey.
Suzan will be joining The London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine, a world-leading center for research and postgraduate education in public and global health. This opportunity will allow her to enhance her expertise and gain further knowledge to drive change in the health and WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene) sectors.
With nine years of experience as a professional Health Officer and WASH Expert, Suzan has already made a great impact through her work, ensuring that communities in Tanzania have access to clean water, sanitation, and hygiene services. Her leadership at Afyaplus has been instrumental in advancing our mission to create sustainable health solutions, improve lives, and build resilient communities.
As she starts on this new chapter, we are proud of Suzan’s accomplishments and confident that this journey will only strengthen her ability to lead transformative projects. The insights, networks, and skills she will gain during her time in the UK will be invaluable to the continued success of Afyaplus and the broader communities we serve.
