Meeting with Engineer without Borders USA
Afyaplus OrganizationOn August 31, we held an online progress meeting for the Water Installation Project in Mangalali Village, located in Iringa District. The meeting brought together key stakeholders, including representatives from Afyaplus, Engineers Without Borders (EWB) Michigan State University Chapter, Mangalali Community Leaders, and the Iringa District Council’s Community Development Officer. The primary focus of the meeting was to finalize preparations for the upcoming Project Assessment trip, scheduled for December this year. Additionally, we discussed the partnership agreements that will be reviewed and signed by Afyaplus, EWB MSU, and local government authorities on behalf of the Mangalali community.
We are grateful for the significant progress made so far in this collaborative project. EWB USA has committed to covering 95% of the total project cost, while the local community will contribute the remaining 5%. We are proud to report that, in just two months, the Mangalali community has already raised over TZS 1 million (approximately $367.76) towards their contribution. This level of commitment demonstrates their dedication to improving water access and the overall well-being of their community.
As we continue to make strides towards the successful implementation of the project, we remain optimistic about the impact it will have on the Mangalali community. Despite having water resources, the community has long faced challenges in accessing clean water. By addressing these challenges, we anticipate a range of positive outcomes, including a reduction in water-related diseases, improved agricultural practices, and enhanced gender equality. Furthermore, the availability of clean water will promote overall economic growth, contributing to the long-term development and prosperity of the Mangalali community.
We are excited about the journey ahead and are confident that this project will bring transformative change to the region.
