Afyaplus handed over hand washing station at Ilore secondary school

We are thrilled to announce the successful handover of our fourth handwashing station this year at Irole Secondary School in Kilolo District Council. This marks a significant expansion of our Water in School project, which now reaches 39 schools across the Iringa region.

During the handover event, we conducted awareness sessions to promote environmental hygiene and the importance of handwashing for safeguarding health. This new handwashing station will serve 681 students (370 girls and 311 boys), representing a vital step toward building a healthier, cleaner, and stronger community. 🌍💦

The vice headmaster of Irole Secondary School expressed his gratitude to Afyaplus for making the construction of the handwashing station a success. He highlighted that this facility will help both the students and the entire school community keep their hands clean and safe.

However, despite this achievement, the school still faces significant challenges, particularly the lack of adequate toilet facilities for both girls and boys. The vice principal called upon stakeholders to assist in the construction of these much-needed toilets. While the school, in collaboration with the community, has initiated the construction of new toilets, the project is currently stalled due to a shortage of essential resources such as cement, money, bricks, and other construction materials.

We were honored by the presence of several distinguished guests at the event, including:
– The Kilolo District Council Secondary School Education Officer
– The SWASH Coordinator in Kilolo District Council
– The NGO Registry in Kilolo District Council
– The Irole Ward Executive Officer
– The Village Chairperson

Their support, positive reception, and commitment to maintaining the sustainability and usefulness of the handwashing station were truly inspiring. Their involvement ensures a positive impact on the school community.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the school leadership, partners, and stakeholders for their relentless support in completing this project. As we celebrate this milestone, we remain committed to addressing the ongoing challenges faced by the school and to working collaboratively towards a brighter future for all students in the Iringa region.

Together, we can continue to make a difference and ensure that every child has access to the basic necessities that support their health, education, and overall well-being.
